Softek Storage Solutions Corporation (now an IBM Global Technology Services company) invented non-disruptive data migration for Mainframe and Open Systems environments. IBM’s Transparent Data Migration Facility (TDMF) is an online and in-band data migration software application. It supports multi-platforms and is independent from all major Storage vendors including: Hitachi, EMC, Fujitsu, Dell,HP, IBM and others. Once TDMF is installed and activated, data can bemoved from any storage device to any storage device while applications remain online and available to users.

NON-DISRUPTIVE DATA MIGRATION


  • Do the gathering of Direct Access Storage Device (DASD) activity andResource Measurement Facility (RMF) data needed to generate a newTarget volume placement plan

  • Write and Execute scripts or Job Control Language (JCL)

  • Install, Activate, Test, Execute and De-Install the data migration tool

  • Execute all data / volume transfers (from Source to new Target)

  • Verify and Validate data flow

  • Execute volume expansion utilities, if required
